I'm based in Western New York, and most of my time in the field is spent within a couple hours of home — the woods and lakeshores here give me plenty to work with, and they're where I learned to slow down and actually watch instead of just shoot. Wildlife is what pulled me into photography in the first place. There's a particular kind of attention it demands: you can't direct a heron, so you learn its habits, find the light it'll sit in, and wait.

That same instinct is what takes me further afield. Iceland and Greece are the two travel galleries up so far, and both trips were built around a similar idea — get to a place early or late, when the light is doing something worth standing around for, and let the landscape set the terms. I'm always looking at where to go next; if a place has interesting light and terrain, it's on the list.

Commissioned work — real estate, portraits, events, and commercial or licensing projects — gets the same care as anything I shoot for myself. A listing still needs to feel like a place someone could live in, and a portrait session still needs a real moment, not just a pose held for the camera. I show up prepared, but I don't treat the plan as more important than what's actually in front of me.

What I'm after, in any of it, is the same thing: light that's doing something, and a moment that happened rather than one I built. That usually means more waiting than shooting. I'd rather come home with fewer frames I mean than fill a card with ones I don't.
