Tanner Stutz

I'm based in Western New York, and most of my time in the field is spent within a couple hours of home. The woods, wetlands, and lakeshores here are where I developed my approach to photography, learning to work with changing light, weather, and unpredictable conditions. Wildlife was what first drew me to photography, and it continues to push me to be more patient, observant, and deliberate with the images I make.

Over the past several years, photography has taken me to 11 countries, from the mountains of Peru and Bolivia to the landscapes of Iceland and Greece. Working in unfamiliar places and constantly changing conditions has pushed me to become a more adaptable and resourceful photographer. Whether I'm working with wildlife, landscapes, or the places and people I encounter along the way, I’ve learned how to make the most of whatever the environment gives me.

For commissioned work, whether it’s real estate, portraits, events, or prints, I bring the same attention to detail and creativity that I bring to my personal work. I come prepared with a plan, but I know how to adapt when the moment calls for something different. The goal is always the same: create images that feel intentional, authentic, and worth looking at.

Across everything I photograph, I’m looking for images that feel natural, intentional, and worth remembering. I care more about getting the right image than getting a lot of images, and I’m willing to take the time to get it. The result is photography that feels considered rather than forced.
